Shipping

Postage and handling costs for our custom order items are based on the size and quantity of the lampshade and/or lamp base.

Due to the remote location of our business, postage charges are higher than in metropolitan areas (the joys of country living).

The shipping charge includes postage, packaging costs and insurance. We endeavour to keep these costs to a minimum so more people can enjoy our LightenUp products.

Shipping is calculated automatically at the checkout. As a general guide see details below:

Small Boxes:
For lampshades 20, 25 & 30 cm diameter - $30.00 per box Australia wide.

Medium Boxes:
For lampshades 35 cm in diameter
$35.00 per box Australia wide

Large Boxes:
For drum lampshades 40 cm diameter and 30/40cm diameter empire and 35/40cm tapered shades
$45.00 per box Australia wide

Lamp Base Boxes:
LightenUp Hand-turned Timber Lamp bases
$35.00 per box Australia wide

Insurance

We take great care to package all items securely. However, as an additional safety measure, we purchase insurance through Australia Post to the value of the item(s) purchased.

If the product arrives damaged, please contact us immediately so we can provide you with the insurance details. You will need to take the damaged package (including both the box and the product) to your local Post Office to make an insurance claim.

Returns Policy

Our aim is to ensure that you love your LightenUp lampshade and/or lamp base as much as we do. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, please contact us via email or phone within 14 days from the time you receive the goods so that we can work to resolve any issues.

However, please note that we do not provide a refund or exchange for a change of mind (including if the product doesn’t match your decor), so please choose carefully.

We warrant our products under the statutory rights set out in the Trade Practices Act (1974).

We do not offer a refund or exchange for any product that has been used, damaged after delivery, or if an attempt has been made to alter the product or if the product has been dropped or broken. 

In regard to care of your lampshade, it is advised not to place your lamp directly next to a window or in direct sunlight where extremes in temperature may affect the product. Take care also if your lampshade is in a room that experiences lots of humidity, for example a bathroom, or near a cooktop in a kitchen.

Our products should last for many years with the right care. If there is an issue we are happy to discuss possible remedies with customers but any such remedies will give regard to the age of the product and adherence to the care guidelines outlined above.

Do you custom make lampshades?

Yes, we specialise in hand-crafting bespoke lampshades. Please visit the ‘Customised to Order Lampshade’ page to select from our fabulous range of fabrics and choose the lampshade shape and size that suits your needs.

What if I want to use my own fabric?

You are welcome to use your own fabric (rather than select from our range). Please send an email to hello@lightenuphandmade.com with your request and we will get back to you. Otherwise, you can check out our DIY Drum Lampshade Kits and make your own!

What happens after I submit my order?

Once you submit your order, you will receive a confirmation email from us.

If purchasing from our Ready to Shop range you can expect your order within 10-14 days. Keeping in mind we are posting from a remote location and we don't duck down to the Post Office everyday.

If purchasing from our Customised to Order range please be aware that your purchase can take up to 8 weeks to arrive to you.

Do you sell Gift Vouchers?

Yes, you can purchase LightenUp Handmade Gift Vouchers here. These may be redeemed to purchase anything from our online store. Our Gift Vouchers have a three year expiry from date of purchase.

How long will it take to make my custom order?

A custom made lampshade usually takes 6 to 8 weeks to delivery as we custom order your chosen fabric directly from the textile designer. We endeavour to keep you up to date if there are any unusual delays with your order.

Where do you source your fabrics?

We endeavour to use Australian designers and Australian made fabrics wherever possible. Sometimes the fabrics are designed in Australia but produced by artisans in countries such as India.

How do I measure the diameter of a lampshade and base?

A general rule of thumb is the lampshade diameter should be wider than the widest part of the base and the height of the shade ½ the height of base; although this rule can be broken, and often is!

To measure your lamp base, measure the widest part of the lamp base – straight across (diameter) not around (circumference). Then measure the height from the bottom of the base up to where the lampshade attaches to the base (just below the bulb).

What bulb do I use?

We advocate using LED as they are energy efficient. We adore "Warm White" bulbs as they emit a lovely light and create a cosy ambience. If however you are after a bulb for an office lamp, our choice would be to use "Cool White " as it is a brighter light which is better for bookwork and craft projects etc.
